50 things that made my year!

I'm not ready to start 2024, so here's me keeping 2023 alive for a little longer. Also, I stole this idea from Austin Kleon, and I think you should steal it, too, because it's a fabulous way to remember all the good times of last year.

Except I'm doing only 50 because, jeez, 100 is fucking difficult! And as usual, I started this newsletter a little late sooooo.

Oh, and a Happy New Year, I guess!

Here's my top 50 list:

  1. Winter swimming at my local swimming pond

  2. Signed up for skateboarding lessons (adult women only!)

  3. Celebrating my friend's birthday by going to the Chocolate Museum and tasting ALL the chocolate!

  4. Installing a shower in our van.

  5. Driving an old Land Rover through the Veluwe for my birthday.

  6. Crashing my drone on the other side of the river so I had to wade through the cold water before breakfast, ugh!

  7. Watching the sunset at 11 or 12 pm during Midsummer in Sweden

  8. Creating a calendar for the third year

  9. Had the best breakfast buffet at this hotel in Madeira. I'm a breakfast kinda gal!

  10. We saw our first moose during our road trip to Sweden. We saw 3 more eventually. Moose are the coolest animals, don't you think?

  11. I have consistently been sending these newsletters since last Summer, and if you know me, consistent is normally not a word in my vocabulary.

  12. Stayed at a cosy cabin for my husband's birthday.

  13. I was invited to an Instameet at the Biesbosch in the Netherlands, and it was so great to meet other photographers IRL.

  14. Started learning about index investing and FIRE via this course I bought. I might send a newsletter about this in the future.

  15. Drank way too much Chinese jasmine tea.

  16. I read 74 books in 2023!

  17. We visited Scotland, albeit very briefly because the weather was so shit we had to cancel.

  18. Had a dream trip to Sweden.

  19. Photographed ABSRB's newest poncho collection and got one for myself. Honestly, I've never seen better surf ponchos than these!

  20. My worst nightmare came true: to spend a night at sea with a storm raging. Fucking hell. I'm never taking an overnight ferry again!

  21. I made this heavenly wreath for Christmas, and my god, it was so good!

  22. I played a lot of video games, but one that stood out was Dysmantle. Smashing everything up is great fun. I play this with my husband, great for quility time together!

  23. Okay, a lot of dinners were eating on the ground in front of the TV. Who needs a dinner table anyway?

  24. Celebrating our 5th year of being vegetarians!

  25. 3 years of no alcohol!

  26. Reading a book in my hammock this Summer. I love lazy Sundays.

  27. Watching my cherry tomatoes grow in my vegetable garden.

  28. Eating strawberries and cherries. My favorite Summer fruit.

  29. Wildswimming in Madeira

  30. Pancakes for breakfast.

  31. Hot tub sessions at Knuscabin.

  32. Photographing the bluebells at Hallerbos

  33. Fries on Friday. It's a Belgian thing.

  34. Walking barefoot in the grass. The best feeling!

  35. Trying out our outdoor shower for the first time in Sweden. The ultimate freedom.

  36. Nachos with cheddar and guacamole!

  37. Visiting and swimming in all the lakes in Sweden.

  38. Heatwave in October, what?!

  39. Getting new prescription sunglasses after 7 years!

  40. Visiting my friend Sara in Delft.

  41. Getting into jigsaw puzzles for a few weeks, and now I have too many of them.

  42. Finally, having straight teeth again, thanks to Invisalign. Fucking expensive but so worth it! I'll spare you to before and after.

  43. Almost being able to do a drop-in after ten lessons of skateboarding. Fuck yeah!

  44. Seeing the famous Harry Potter train while getting soaked to the bone. Worth it!

  45. Getting to meet up with one of my biggest inspirations in life, MEG! Our cafe dates really changed my life. <3

  46. Enjoying a cuppa tea outside while freezing my nose off.

  47. Enjoying the Autumn colors.

  48. Foggy days.

  49. Snuggling up inside with a blanket, a cuppa tea and my cats.

  50. Making big plans for 2024!
